WRESTLER REVIEW

WRESTLER REVIEW

Since the roster for VPW is pretty new, thought I'd do a quick review of all the wrestlers (THIS IS NOT THOROUGH!!), also this is about recent stuff, not gonna talk about Jack or anything like that, anyway here goes:

Fragata: Comes from an old tradition of wrestler including the original Fragata and the Rabihorcado. Good technical wrestler, can also do a lot of striking and flippy stuff, probably the best new talent on the roster and honestly needs to be pushed to the moon by VPW because he's their one talent that has the potential to reach far. Hasn't been pushed yet and had many lacklustre angles because VPW is blind and is obviously pushing Boy Wonder instead.

Millenium Boy Wonder: Can't work, shitty gimmicky, annoying personality, VPW is pushing him as much as possible for whatever fucking reason. People seem to like them which just goes to show that most of the VPW fans are FUCKING MORONS. His matches so far have been a combination of squashes and boring angles with 0 stakes. Really needs to GO AWAY. About the only good thing about Shay is that he's incredibly easy to troll online.

Dust Jr: Solid worker and honestly a bit of a legend with really good work in Japan and Mexico in his past, but WAAAAY past his sell-by-date. He's done some good matches for VPW, most of the squashes, but it's obvious he's there to develop talent and then get the hell out of dodge. Heard rumours he wasn't supposed to win the Royal Wrangle which is probably true cause that Baron elimination spot honestly looked like a shoot. The match versus Fragata looks to be pretty hot, so at least I have that to look forward to.

Prisoner 46: Decent in squashes as far as I can see, but still need to see if she has more range than looking big and scary. Solid setup as a threat so far, although it seems likely that VPW dumped that shitty manager on her due to her poor promo skills. She knows her stuff in the ring and hopefully she just destroys Shay in the semis but honestly not sure if she can break out of the gimmick they have given her. Jury's still out.

Reina Roja: Standard shitty "use my goons to win" heel, it's not clear if she can even wrestle or not, all of her angles have so far been pretty lacklustre since she's there for her goons and not because she's good at wrestling. Just honestly dunno how they are going to make her interesting or exciting to watch since all her matches so far have been exactly the same shit over and over again.

Baron: One of the few other good wrestlers, but probably not if he keeps getting screwed and getting his arm broken. He needs to get back to the ring soon so there's more talent in the topcard. His matches so far have been pretty shitty but mostly because he got turbo-fucked by incompetents or psychos.

Yukako: She could be good but they haven't used her match. Not much hardcore content so far in the promotion so she definitely feels completely misused. I've seen some of her stuff outside of VPW and it was pretty good if you are into hardcore stuff, probably one of the more interesting tweeners in the promotion but again being overshadowed by people that honestly don't deserve a push at ALL!! If she and Fragata had been pushed instead, the card would honestly be 100 times better than it is now. Criminally underused.

Mitch: VPW found some big guy out in the street and asked him "Hey, want to badly fuck up some wrestling matches?". Thank god he's been dropped since the Royal Wrangle, at least it shows that the management has a small amount of brainpower, but why fucking hire him in the first place??

Joe Six-Pack: Jobber supreme, it was obvious his last match went off-script, but what a fucking shitshow. Apparently he fucked up Shay at least so maybe not all bad? Boring character, boring matches, really nothing all that much to say about him.

Aerol: Writers should NOT win matches (yeah yeah, I know he's supposed to be an interviewer kayfabe, but everyone knows he's a writer as well), and the cage match that he had was a fucking abomination. VPW should really fucking fire his ass because everything that Aerol has touched so far has turned to shit, and the only glimmer of hope that his idiot writing has been reined in is that he lost to Dust Jr. And thank fuck for that.

Angelina: Nothing much to say here, I only remember seeing her in one match and that entire match was an abomination, so jury's still out if she is actually decent or not.

D'Angelo: Seems actually more promising than Shay since he does seem to have some skills and wrestling know-how. Not much from him lately though since the tournament started in earnest and he didn't make the cut. Could be a solid babyface if he gets any kind of push, but currently he just plays second fiddle to possibly one of the worst wrestlers in the promotion.

Jane: Was well served by her gimmick switch, the match I saw her in was a good, technical match with a lot of psychology, so it does look like she knows her stuff, especially considering she was against Fragata and had to accommodate his lucha-style of wrestling. Quite interested to see how they push her, I think she would be a solid heel once she's off the leash of Legault.

SPOOKY GHOST: Just fuck off, dump her VPW!! Really don't understand why she got hired even if they had a roster slot to fill. Overhyped, overpushed, just fucking bad in all respects.

  1. Hi, Mark!

I agree with a lot of your writing, but I think you might be a little biased in some respects. Like, for example, I think you're really overselling Yukako. I've seen her east coast stuff and while yeah, she can work a decent hardcore match, but she's such a one-trick pony about it. Any heel can swing a chairshot and there's really nothing special about that other than her running backstage to steal all the toys for herself to mask the fact she's got like maybe one decent move otherwise. It's a gimmick that only works by denying it others and I think that's not really healthy for a promotion, I bet if it wasn't for her we could have seen more of that stuff from Reina or Bad Jane or maybe the rest of the supposed mobster stable that they've only really hinted at.

Really don't see how you can praise her so much and then say Reina is too one-note. At least she can bust a cool lucha move every once in a while.

Really agree on Aerol, though. I really liked the storylines so far, but it seems like they have no brakes when it comes to them. I fear the whole championship belt will end up some one big Chikara bullshit. But idk, maybe they're still trying to set everything up and it's the next one when we'll get the real wrestling.

  2. you're super paranoid, dude, I really don't know where you're coming from re: regal wrangle, baron was barely in the match anyway, even if that was an accident then I doubt it changed anything

also reina is cool and good? she's put mad moves on fragata but she was supposed to go down in the end, that was obviously the storyline

you need to get that bee out of your bonnet mate

    1. I mean, have you seen Baron's twitter? There's some choice words to be read between the lines...
